Software Data Collection & Communication
LightRules can be configured to collect and maintain certain system data. Below is a list of external communications originating from the LightRules appliance which, if enabled, may be transported over the internet using the enterprise network connection.

Map Files contain the following information:
- 2-D Facility Graphic
- Product Versions ( Fixture type, LightRules version, Firmware revision)
- Product Serial Numbers
- Facility LightRules Settings
- Site Configuration Data
- Facility Manager & IT manager Contact Information
- Enterprise Network Configuration
- Lighting Network Configuration
- Remote Support Configuration
How it works
The Digital Lumens map file backup program regularly checks for map file updates. If a change to the map file is detected, the program uses the LightRules Email Service by default to send a copy of the map file back to Digital Lumens private, secure database.

If Product Use Reporting is enabled, the following product usage data will be collected over time:
- New user creation
- User name, email, and permission levels
- System ID
- Page Navigation
- Mobile Invitations
How it works
Digital Lumens uses third party event tracking software to collect LightRules usage data. Events are triggered when users take the actions listed above and the third party service keeps a database of events. This raw data is only visible to the product development team to help improve Digital Lumens products and services.

Digital Lumens technical staff has access to email forwarded through the default email service. This includes user email addresses and default email content.
How it works
By default, LightRules uses a third party email delivery service, communicating using SMTP/STARTTLS to port 2525. An Admin user may designate an enterprise email server to use instead.

Digital Lumens has full access to the LightRules installation if this connection is set up.
How it works
The outbound SSH connection via port 22 (secure & encrypted SSH port) connects only the LightRules Appliance to our firewall-protected server at 173.162.131.45 (dl-serv.digitallumens.com). Our server is a dedicated Ubuntu server, maintained to the highest security[f][g] level by our software engineering department. Please see our for more information.

Details of the exception include internal operating characteristics of the LightRules configuration such as the system name and IP addresses.
How it works
If a software exception occurs in LightRules, a record of the exception including diagnostics may be posted to an exception service. This is posted using TLS to api.airbrake.io. These reports are stored in the exception service database for up to 90 days. Members of the Digital Lumens technical staff have access to this service. In LightRules 2.12 and previous versions of LightRules, this service is enabled by default and can not be disabled through the LightRules interface.
